Robert K. Johnson Award for Excellence in Service

Award Announcement

Nominations are solicited for the Robert K. Johnson Award for excellence in service to the society. The award was initiated in memory of Robert K. (Bob) Johnson, who contributed exemplary service to ASIH. In this context, he served as ASIH Secretary, managing editor of Copeia, four terms as a member of the Board of Governors, and as Chair of the Long-Range Planning and Policy Committee. As that Chair, he developed an exceptionally useful policy and procedures manual, and his diligence in so doing inspired the committee, which then voted to formally codify ASIH activities.

Following societal procedures, the 2024 award, which includes a plaque, will rotate to ichthyology. The award will be presented at the opening plenary session of the ASIH annual meeting.

Nominations may be offered by any member and must include the curriculum vitae of the nominee as well as details of those specific contributions so made to the ASIH. To be so eligible, nominations (to include self-nominations) must be submitted by 1 March 2024. Nominations will remain active for three consecutive years.

Please email nominations to the Chair of the 2024 Johnson Award Committee: Dr. William Ludt (wludt@nhm.org).
