Professional
The Henry S. Fitch Award for Excellence in Herpetology is awarded to an individual for long-term excellence in the study of amphibian and/or reptile biology, based principally on the quality of the awardee's research; consideration is also given to educational and service impacts of the individual's career.
The Robert H. Gibbs Jr. Memorial Award for Excellence in Systematic Ichthyology is awarded for "an outstanding body of published work in systematic ichthyology" to a citizen of a Western Hemisphere nation who has not been a recipient of the award.
The Robert K. Johnson Award for Excellence in Service recognizes members who perform exceptional service to the society.
The Joint Meritorious Teaching Award in Herpetology recognizes superior teaching effectiveness and mentoring of students in the area of herpetology.
Honorary Foreign Member is a recognition of eminent distinction in research bestowed upon ichthyologists and herpetologists who are located outside Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The Meritorious Teaching Award in Ichthyology recognizes superior teaching effectiveness and mentoring of students in the area of ichthyology.
The Joseph S. Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award in Ichthyology recognizes members for an outstanding body of work in any area of ichthyology, including, but not limited to ecology, behavior, life history, genetics, conservation, and systematics.
The Spiritus Award recognizes members for excellence and dedication in support of ichthyology and herpetology collections.
The Margaret M. Stewart Achievement Award for Excellence in Ichthyology or Herpetology recognizes mid-career members.
Graduate Students
The Helen and Frederick Gaige Fund provides support to herpetology graduate students for museum or laboratory study, travel, fieldwork, or any other activity that will effectively enhance their professional careers by contributing to the science of herpetology.
The Edward C. and Charlotte F. Raney Fund provides support to ichthyology graduate students for museums or laboratory study, travel, fieldwork, or any other activity that will effectively enhance their professional careers and their contributions to the science of ichthyology.
The Clark Hubbs' Student Travel Awards help defray travel expenses to participate in the annual meeting.
The John G. Lundberg and Lucinda McDade Dissertation Award in Comparative and Phylogenetic Ichthyology is presented annually to support the Ph.D. research of graduate students conducting original research advance knowledge of fish diversity and diversification.
Undergraduate and Graduate Students
The Cashner Student Award (formerly the Student Diversity and Inclusion Award) provides assistance to students from historically underrepresented minority groups.
The Tracy I. Storer Award recognize the best posters presented by student members at the annual meetings.
The Frederick H. Stoye Award recognize the most meritorious papers presented orally by student members at the annual meetings.
