The University of Florida Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation at the Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center in Davie, Florida (the Croc Docs) is seeking a Data Management Analyst interested in ecological research and data management related to datasets on native and invasive reptiles.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, experienced with relational databases and data manipulation, and hold a strong working knowledge of best practices in data management. This position will involve extensive collaboration with partner agencies. Candidates are expected to design and maintain databases for long-term ecological research and monitoring, incorporating quality assurance techniques.
This position starts in January 2020. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Qualifications
- Possess a Master’s degree (or Bachelor’s degree with 3 years’ experience in ecology, wildlife biology, biometry, conservation biology, geography, or related discipline);
- Strong organizational skills, knowledge of statistical analyses and related software, and the ability to work independently and with other researchers;
- Demonstrated experience with relational databases, including importing and summarizing data in SQL databases such as Microsoft Access;
- Ability to summarize data, conduct quality control checks on large datasets, visualize, analyze, and interpret results, and comfort with writing reports independently;
- Experience with Microsoft Access and Excel, ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online/Survey123, and R is strongly preferred.
